WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) joined WOWK 13 News' Inside West Virginia Politics to discuss the latest on infrastructure talks in the House of Representatives, addiction recovery efforts in the state, and her work to promote West Virginia commodities around the world.
Highlights:
On Infrastructure Talks in the House of Representatives:"We need good infrastructure in West Virginia, as well as all over the country. It's important that we have good roads, bridges, broadband…There's so many things that we need to do infrastructure-wise. We don't know what Nancy Pelosi will do with the bill. We don't know what kind of influences or what direction she wants to go to. So, I am very interested to see where she brings this bill, because it won't be the same one as the Senate."
On Addiction Recovery Efforts in West Virginia:"It is a wonderful opportunity because [Lotus Recovery Centers] have a ‘whole self' concept of working with people. Recovery is such an important part of getting over addiction, period. Because you have rehab and recovery – the tough physical part of rehab, then you have to go into the multilayer part of recovery, which goes with you your entire lifetime."
On Promoting West Virginia Commodities:"I understand what a commodity state we are, which is why I worked so hard to get on Ways and Means, and particularly the Trade Subcommittee. I feel so fortunate with the abundant natural resources that we have in West Virginia…What are we learning, and how are we doing a better job with carbon capture? How are we learning with science what to do with coal? You know, there's so many different things out there now that we have different groups of people working on making fibers, making bricks, making roofing, doing insulation, doing all kinds of things with our natural resources."
Rep. Miller has met with 40 ambassadors in her continued efforts to promote and export West Virginia commodities around the world.
