Congresswoman Miller Announces $2 Million Grant for Substance Abuse Treatment
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Miller (WV-3) announced today a planning grant of $2,204,124 from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Services Bureau of Medical Services. The funding will be used to increase the treatment capacity of Medicaid providers for substance use disorder (SUD).
Congresswoman Miller said, "Addiction has touched us all in tragic ways, whether it is a family member, a friend, neighbor, or the person praying next to you in church. This funding is a crucial step in helping treat this horrible disease and I am grateful to CMS for their commitment to combating this crisis."
This grant is part of CMS's implementation of the Substance-Use Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment for Patients and Communities (SUPPORT) Act which enhances federal funding to 15 states to help fight substance abuse.
