Congresswoman Miller Announces Disaster Designation for Cabell, Mason, and Wayne Counties
Washington D.C. – Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) announced today that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has given disaster designation to Cabell, Mason, and Wayne counties, which suffered losses from natural disasters during the 2019 crop year.
Congresswoman Miller said, "I am pleased to see the USDA making rural America a priority. We must ensure that our farmers have all the resources available for them to be successful. This disaster designation is an important step in shielding our agriculture community from unplanned disasters."
This designation will allow farm operators to be considered for emergency loans from the Farm Service Agency. Counties in Ohio and Kentucky were also given the disaster designation based on excessive rain and flooding that occurred from January 1 to August 13, 2019.
Farmers affected have 8 months to apply for assistance and can reach out to their local FSA office for more information.
