Congresswoman Miller Announces Grant to the Bluefield Fire Department

Washington D.C. – Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) announced today an Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) of $163,222 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to the Bluefield Fire Department.

Congresswoman Miller said, "Our firefighters risk their lives for our safety daily and they deserve the best equipment available to them. I am committed to protecting our community and providing resources to keep our first responders safe each time they go to work to protect our great state."

The grant comes in two parts, the first totaling $126,688, for the purchase of updated communication devices, new radios and pagers, support the departments mutual aid agreements, and improve communication between members and personnel from other towns. The second part totals $36,534 and will be used to purchase exhaust systems for the Central Fire Station and Station 3 on Cumberland Road.
