Congresswoman Miller Announces Three Rural Development Grants

Washington D.C. – Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) announced today three Economic Impact Initiative Grants from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development. The first, is $31,700, to the Webster County Memorial Hospital, the second to the Town of Gauley Bridge worth $33,700, and the third to the McDowell County Commission on Aging worth $37,500.

Congresswoman Carol Miller said, "Thank you to the USDA for investing in our state. I am excited to see how this new equipment will improve the care given at Webster County Memorial Hospital and in McDowell County, and enhance the safety of the Town of Gauley Bridge. Our communities deserve the supplies needed to serve our citizens, and I am pleased to see this investment."

The Webster County Memorial Hospital will use this rural development investment to purchase new wheelchair scales, thermometers for the ER, batteries for the defib machines, and cardiac rehab equipment. There will be $10,635 of additionally funding added, bringing the total project cost to $42,335.

The grant will be used by the Town of Gauley Bridge to purchase two Ford Police Utilities (SUVs) for the Police Department. There will be $11,300 in additional funding, bringing the total cost to $45,000.

The McDowell County Commission on Aging will use these funds to purchase two new vehicles to transport senior citizens to facilities throughout the county and provide them with meals. An additional contribution of $12,500 has been made, making the project total $50,000.
