Miller Applauds the Passage of the Bipartisan Tax Package in the House of Representatives

January 31, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) released the following statement on the passage of the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act in the House of Representatives. This bipartisan, bicameral tax package will strengthen the financial security of working families, encourage pro-growth economic policies, and bolster businesses and communities across the United States.

“Today, in a strong display of bipartisanship, Congress passed the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act: a strong tax package that will boost the U.S. economy, help our nation remain competitive, and delivers real relief for the American workers.” said Congresswoman Miller. “After three years of the Biden Administration’s reckless spending and crushing inflationary policies, Republicans have produced meaningful tax policies that grow our economy and create good paying jobs. This bill will save taxpayers billions of dollars by cutting wasteful COVID-era spending while advancing conservative pro-growth tax reforms and ensuring the Child Tax Credit meets inflationary pressures, while safeguarding the program from fraud and abuse from domestic sources and illegal aliens. As Members of Congress, we are here to work together to pass meaningful legislation for Americans and tonight we did just that. I’ve worked on this bill with Chairman Smith and my colleagues on the Ways and Means Committee since Republicans took back the majority last year, and I am thrilled with how it has turned out.

I applaud Chairman Smith for his leadership in negotiating a conservative bill in a divided government – it is no easy feat. The Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act is a necessary first step in permanently cementing President Trump’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act into law. Our work for the American taxpayer has only just begun."
