WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) joined the Ways and Means Committee for a markup on six tax, work and welfare, and trade bills. Congresswoman Miller spoke on the United States - Taiwan Expedited Double-Tax Relief Act and the VSO Equal Tax Treatment (VETT) Act.

On the United States - Taiwan Expedited Double-Tax Relief Act:
“Taiwan and the United States have a long and mutually beneficial relationship. I deeply value our continued partnership with our ally Taiwan and I believe that this bill will go a long way to secure our economic relationship for years to come. Ending double taxation between our two countries will be beneficial to both of us, both the American businesses in Taiwan, and Taiwanese businesses investing in the United States.
As a member of the trade subcommittee, this is very important to me. And of course, being a West Virginianian, I always welcome our friends from Taiwan to visit our beautiful state,” said Congresswoman Miller.

On the VETT Act:
“Our Veteran Service Organizations are the bedrock of our service members communities when they return home. West Virginia has one of the highest rates of proud veteran’s living in our state, and our citizens have long answered the call to serve our country in times of need.
Many of my constituents have served in conflicts not really considered to be a wartime conflict, but still deserve the same treatment as other servicemembers.
I want to thank Congressman Wenstrup for introducing the VETT Act and wish him all the best in his future endeavors. Our Committee is certainly losing a good one with your retirement,” said Congresswoman Miller.
