Washington D.C. – Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) spoke with state and local officials around West Virginia, met with small business owners, and toured the Salt Rock PSD that she secured $750,000 through Community Project Funding.

Congresswoman Miller first met with Frank Mullens, Mayor of Charleston to discuss new projects that aim to help grow the city’s economy.

“It was a pleasure meeting with Mayor Mullens and city officials to discuss the widening of Jefferson Road and implementation of the new Park Place Shopping Center. I am excited to see how these projects will turn out and how they will help grow and strengthen the economy,” said Congresswoman Miller.

Congresswoman Miller also participated in a roundtable luncheon with business leaders in Putnam County to discuss economic development in the area and the various issues small business face. Following the luncheon, she was provided a tour of the Belknap Dough Company and Bear Wood Company on Main Street in Hurricane.

Congresswoman Miller later met with the director of St. Albans Boys & Girls Club to discuss operations for the Club and the $1 million she secured in federal funding for safety improvements.

“Family is very important to me, so it is a priority of mine that families and children in St. Albans are cared for. I am pleased to have secured this funding that will help provide improvements to the Club’s facility and I look forward to seeing how the Club will prosper with its developments,” said Congresswoman Miller.

Boys & Girls Club Area Director John Jackson thanked Congresswoman Miller for her work with the Club and highlighted how her support will help the Club achieve its goals with improvements.

“Thanks to the Congresswoman’s efforts, we now have this opportunity to build an incredible experience for our kids and families in St. Albans.  Improving our facility, providing added security, and expanding programming will all support our commitment to helping our young people reach their full potential. Congresswoman Miller has been such an advocate for our Boys & Girls Clubs. Our kids, our staff and our community are excited to be able to share this announcement with her and we look forward to inviting her back when the improvements that she championed are complete,” said Director Jackson.

Today, Congresswoman Miller visited the Salt Rock PSD to discuss how improvements will be made with the $750,000 she secured in federal funding.

"It was great touring the Salt Rock PSD today to see how the funding for the construction of pre-treatment facilities will help correct system deficiencies in West Virginia. I'm thrilled to hear after improvements, 5,000 customers will be provided with clean water," said Congresswoman Miller.
