Miller Speaks at U.S. Coast Guard Change of Command Ceremony and Tours Marshall University's Physical Therapy Building
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) gave remarks at the U.S. Coast Guard Change of Command Ceremony. She later spoke with students at Marshall University’s Physical Therapy Building about their physical therapy program and the Stopping Addiction and Falls for the Elderly (SAFE) Act.
Congresswoman Miller attended the U.S. Coast Guard Change of Command Ceremony and commended the Marine Safety Unit in Huntington for their bravery and service to West Virginia and the United States.
“I had the honor of witnessing the U.S. Coast Guard Change of Command Ceremony today. The Marine Safety Unit in Huntington is full of extraordinary men and women who spend so many hours of their time protecting West Virginia’s waterways and ports, conducting search and rescue missions, and responding to environmental disasters. Their commitment to our state and nation is appreciated, and I am so thankful for their selflessness. These members exemplify leadership and I commend them for their bravery and service,” said Congresswoman Miller.
Congresswoman Miller toured Marshall University’s Physical Therapy Building and spoke with the program director and students about the school's program and how the SAFE Act will help physical therapists and elderly patients.
“Marshall University’s School of Physical Therapy is full of intelligent and driven students who want to make a positive difference in the health care industry. I had the opportunity to tour their school building and discuss the benefits of their physical therapy program with the director and students. This program offers students the education and hands-on experience they need to prepare them for this field. I also discussed the SAFE Act, which I introduced to help reduce falls for the elderly by allowing physical therapists to conduct fall risk assessments and report the number of falls of elderly patients and those who received treatment for their injuries to Congress each year,” said Congresswoman Miller.
