Miller, Van Duyne, Carey Introduce the Chemical Tax Repeal Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) joined Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne (R-TX) and Congressman Mike Carey (R-OH) in introducing the Chemical Tax Repeal Act which will repeal the $15 billion Superfund tax imposed through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act on 42 different materials that are essential in the production of household goods.
 
“President Biden’s chemical tax is targeting U.S. chemical manufacturers and burdening hardworking Americans with colossal taxes on everyday household items,” said Congresswoman Miller. “The Chemical Tax Repeal Act will ensure U.S. manufacturers remain competitive against our adversaries and influence the domestic production of goods. Making sure families across our nation can afford the resources they need is one of my main priorities in Congress and I will continue fighting for policies that put Americans first.”
 
“As a result of these misguided taxes, U.S. manufacturing competitiveness is further threatened by countries like China,” said the American Chemistry Council. “The taxes single out the chemical industry at a time when supply chain challenges and new proposed restrictions from the Biden administration pose significant challenges for the business of chemistry and our industry’s ability to create products that are important to national priorities.”
