Miller's Statement on the Passage of the Clinical Laboratory Price Transparency Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) released the following statement on the passage of her legislation, the Clinical Laboratory Price Transparency Act, on the House of Representatives floor. The Clinical Laboratory Price Transparency Act passed as part of the larger Lower Costs, More Transparency Act, and ensures clinical labs publish their prices before administering treatment, giving patients a clear understanding on their health care costs.
 
"Unknown health care prices should not be a factor that patients are worried about when making health care decisions," said Congresswoman Miller. "Patients should know their health care treatment prices upfront and not be surprised by sky-high bills they were unaware of. The passage of the Clinical Laboratory Price Transparency Act is a necessary first step in allowing clinical labs to publish their prices upfront, so patients are given the opportunity to make wise health care decisions. Providing patients with health care price transparency is long overdue and I am pleased this legislation will deliver and prioritize the needs of patients across the United States.”
