Rep. Miller, Colleagues Launch the Bipartisan Rural Health Caucus
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) joined her colleagues in launching the Bipartisan Rural Health Caucus. The focus of the Bipartisan Rural Health Caucus is to advocate for health care policies and highlight challenges that Americans are experiencing in rural communities across the United States.
“Having access to affordable health care is the difference between life and death for many rural Americans,” said Congresswoman Miller. “It is unacceptable that all West Virginian’s don’t have quality health care available to them when they need it. I am looking forward to working with the Bipartisan Rural Health Caucus on health care policies that will provide quality care in our communities, prioritize our health care workforce, and educate members of Congress on why rural America needs better and more accessible health care.”

Background:
The Congressional Bipartisan Health Caucus will promote and advance legislation and policy actions that help increase access to quality, affordable health care, and mental health services for all rural Americans. They will also create opportunities for members to hear directly from patients, providers, and health advocates about the challenges and successes with health care delivery for rural communities.
The Caucus will highlight potential policy solutions including:
- Stemming hospital closures,
- Ensuring fair and adequate reimbursement rates,
- Strengthening the health workforce,
- Reducing health inequities, and
- Expanding telehealth and other innovative care delivery models.
