Rep. Miller Tours Sites in Nicholas and Pocahontas County
WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) went to Nicholas County and Pocahontas County to tour and visit places that are stimulating economic growth and giving back to their communities.
Congresswoman Miller began the week by touring the new 911 Center in Nicholas County. This new location will provide more safety for West Virginia’s more rural areas. Congresswoman Miller's office submitted a community funding request for $89,208 for this center.
Congresswoman Miller visited the Patriot Guardens Apple Orchard in Summersville, West Virginia. The orchard was an abandoned mine site and has been transformed into an apple orchard, bringing more jobs to West Virginia, and utilizing the land well.
Congresswoman Miller spoke at and attended the Pocahontas County Memorial Hospital’s grand opening of the Joe and Peg Greenlee Rural Health Clinic. Congresswoman Miller's office submitted a community funding request totaling $1,300,000 for the Pocahontas County Memorial Hospital where more West Virginian’s will have better access to quality health care.
Lastly, Congresswoman Miller toured the Pocahontas County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB). She spoke with employees of the CVB about tourism in the area including Snowshoe Highlands Ride Center, Mon Forrest Towns, the Housing Committee, and the Broadband Council.
