May 14, 2019

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Miller (WV-3) announced today a grant of $200,000 from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to the Prestera Center for Mental Health Services for the Rural Communities Opioid Response (Planning) in Huntington, West Virginia.

Congresswoman Miller said, "Everyone has been touched by addiction – whether it is a family member, a friend, or a neighbor, the person in line behind you at the grocery store or praying beside you in church. We have all felt its horrific affects. I am committed to keeping West Virginian's safe and this funding is one more step towards alleviating the terrible effects of the opioid epidemic, that is so present in our community."

This funding will be used by Prestera, Marshall University, and Westbrooke Health Systems to develop a plan for increasing substance use disorder treatment services in areas where there are major healthcare shortages.
