Congresswoman Miller Announces $3 Million Grant for Head Start Programs

July 3, 2019

Washington D.C. – Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) announced today a grant of $3,127,824 from the Department of Health and Human Services to the Community Action of Southeastern West Virginia. The grant is to be used for the Head Start Programs.

Congresswoman Miller said, "As a mother and a grandmother, I know the first five years of a child's life are the most formative. I am happy to see so much investment in the children of Southern West Virginia during their early years. Thank you to the Head Start Program for putting our children first."

The Head Start Programs provide parents and children, from birth to age 5, with the skills they need to begin their school career. These programs foster a positive learning environment to encourage children's growth and development in the areas of early learning, health, and family well-being.
