Congresswoman Miller Announces $3.5 Million Grant to Tri-State Airport

July 25, 2019

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Miller (WV-3) announced today a grant of $3,500,000 from the Department of Transportation to the Tri-State Airport/Milton J. Ferguson Field. The grant will be used to improve the runway safety area and keep the airport in compliance with current aviation standards.

"This substantial investment into the airport brings additional support to the tri-state region – providing transportation, economic growth, job creation, and increased opportunities for tourism. I came to Washington to invest in our infrastructure and secure funding for much needed projects back home. This is another huge win for West Virginia and ensures our state will remain an incredible place to live, work, and raise a family now and for generations to come," said Congresswoman Miller.

Airport Director, Brent Brown, added, "The Huntington Tri-State Airport continues to focus on projects that would improve our terminal areas and the overall customer experience, however our main priority is always to maintain a safe operational environment for the flying public. We can do just that with the funding received from this grant and from the continued support from Congresswomen Miller."

The Tri-State Airport is located 3 miles south of Huntington, West Virginia and serves Huntington, Ashland, Kentucky, Ironton, Ohio, and the surrounding areas. It handles commercial airline, air cargo, military, and other general aviation traffic. This grant is in addition to another $10 million in funds awarded to the Airport in May 2019.
