Washington D.C. – Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) announced today a grant of $709,416 from the Department of Health and Human Services to the Community Health Systems for the use of medical education in rural communities.
Congresswoman Miller said, "The education of our medical professionals is crucial to keeping our state healthy. I am happy to see medical students from all over the country come to West Virginia and learn how to best serve our rural communities."
The goal of this program is to educate medical residents within rural communities to provide them with hands on training. These physicians are being trained in high-demand specialties - family medicine, general internal medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, psychiatry, and dentistry.
