Congresswoman Miller’s Statement on the Declaration of a National Emergency at the Southern Border

February 15, 2019

Washington D.C. – Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) released the following statement on President Trump's Declaration of a National Emergency at the Southern Border:

"Yesterday, Congress secured funding for 55 miles of border wall to be constructed where it is most desperately needed - but that doesn't go far enough. We have a humanitarian and security emergency on our southern border, and our President is addressing that crisis. West Virginia has been hit especially hard by illegal drugs smuggled across our southern border. Just two weeks ago, Customs and Border Protection seized enough fentanyl to kill every person in West Virginia 32 times over. If that's not an emergency, then I don't know what is."
