Miller Tours DaVita Greater Charleston Dialysis Center and Charleston Processing Distribution and Center

March 27, 2024

Washington D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) visited the DaVita Greater Charleston Dialysis Center in Charleston, West Virginia to speak with staff and patients about dialysis care. Congresswoman Miller also toured the Charleston Processing and Distribution Center (P&DC) to discuss USPS’s plans for facility improvements.

Congresswoman Miller visited the DaVita Greater Charleston Dialysis Center where she met with staff and patients to hear about the positive work at the Center and discuss the care that patients with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) have been receiving through dialysis.

“It was a pleasure speaking with the dialysis patients and staff at the Dialysis Center today. I was moved hearing about the great work that the staff has put into helping make sure that patients are receiving the appropriate care and treatment that they need. Health care is a priority for me, and it’s important to know that someone’s loved one is being looked after and that they are not alone. I commend the Center for ensuring that patients have access to dialysis across Southern West Virginia, including right here in Charleston. I will continue to work alongside patients and staff to discuss ways Congress can help support patients across all stages of kidney disease," said Congresswoman Miller.

Congresswoman Miller later toured the Charleston Processing and Distribution Center where she spoke with USPS management about improvements that are scheduled to be made at the facility. Congresswoman Miller remains concerned about the potential decision for mail services to leave West Virginia and how that will impact postal jobs and the state’s economy and will continue to advocate for postal jobs to remain in West Virginia.

“I had the opportunity to meet with USPS management today to review their plans for infrastructure investments and improvements to the facility for Charleston P&DC. As decisions and discussions continue to be made surrounding the potential relocation of mail services, I will make certain to advocate for postal jobs to remain in West Virginia, so that employees feel secure and to help our state’s economy,” said Congresswoman Miller.
