WASHINGTON D.C. – In a House Ways and Means Committee virtual roundtable on unemployment insurance, Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) invited fellow West Virginian and small business owner, Patrick Pelley, to discuss the challenges he faces as an employer competing with federal unemployment benefits to maintain a workforce amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Mr. Pelley, who owns and manages Books and Brews, a local restaurant-bookstore in Charleston, has had to limit business output due to his inability to fill jobs.

WASHINGTON D.C. – Today Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) visited LeSage Natural Water and toured the Robert C. Byrd Locks and Dam in southern West Virginia.

LeSage Natural Water is a division of the Green Acres Regional Center, Inc. and was founded over 50 years ago to employ, train, and provide programs to those with special needs. Congresswoman Miller discussed with officials how they can work together to create more jobs for people with disabilities and then toured the facility.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) led a letter with West Virginia Reps. David McKinley (R-WV) and Alex Mooney (R-WV) to Governor Jim Justice requesting that West Virginia be able to participate in the Internet Social Security Number Replacement Card (iSSNRC) service. As many Social Security Administration offices have closed amid the COVID-19 pandemic, this service would allow for West Virginians to replace Social Security number (SSN) cards online. Forty-five states have established this online alternative to applying in person.
