The funds will be used to improve school safety through the COPS office School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP).

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) announced today a Dislocated Worker Grant totaling $1,500,000 from the Department of Labor to WorkForce West Virginia. This funding is allocated from the CARES Act passed in March of 2020.

Dislocated Worker Grants temporarily expand the capacity of states and local communities to respond to massive unforeseen layoffs and provide individuals with the tools they need to get back into the workforce.

The first grant, worth $38,466, is going to the Housing Authority of the City of Huntington and the second grant, worth $7,543, is going to the Housing Authority of the City of Beckley.
